That's Just Gross

Cook County

passed an ordinance requiring 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked, up to 40 hours per year. But in 2017, several suburbs opted out of adopting paid sick leave requirements, including Niles, Arlington Heights, Lincolnwood and Des Plaines.

That means thousands of Cook County workers still can't afford to take a day off when they or their family are sick.

Niles

44% of service workers don't earn paid sick leave.

But Niles Village still doesn't require paid sick time for all employees, despite overwhelming support from voters. Last year, 82% of Maine Township voted to adopt paid sick requirements. Niles Township voters by 88%.

Niles will be electing new trustees April 2nd, 2019. Trustees that could vote to adopt paid sick leave.

Early voting begins March 18th at Niles Village Hall.

Arlington Heights

Areas that adopt paid sick leave laws see a 22% drop in foodborne illnesses.

Yet Arlington Heights still doesn't require paid sick leave, even though voters support it. In fact, 82% of Wheeling Township voted to adopt paid sick rules.

Arlington Heights will be electing new trustees April 2nd. Trustees that could adopt paid sick laws.

Early voting begins March 18th at Arlington Heights Village Hall.

Lincolnwood

45% of sick food workers come to work because they can't afford to take a day off.

That may be why voters of Niles Township supported adopting paid sick requirements by 88% in 2018. But Lincolnwood still does not require that all workers earn paid sick time in 2017.

Lincolnwood will be electing new trustees April 2nd. Trustees that could ensure all employees earn paid sick time.
